I know what you might be thinking, why am I sharing spring trends when we are entering the fall season? Well, as you know, when you are planning a wedding, you are ALWAYS planning ahead. Most of my fall couples already know their floral color schemes and the flowers they are using for their bouquets and arrangements, but my spring couples are just getting started. NOW is the time if you are planning a spring 2025 wedding to get started, and I am here to help! Hi! It’s me, Maegan, with The Floral Pop, a local Nashville florist and wedding vendor with a keen eye for upcoming trends but also keeping in mind those spring classics that make a wedding pop.
As I have said many times before, trends are important to keep up with and educate yourself on because, let’s be honest, trends become trends for a reason. They are normally fun, unique and add a touch of newness to wedding florals and arrangements, BUT trends are not everything. I believe in keeping up with trends while making them your own and always sprinkling in some classics as well. For example, some classic go-to spring flowers I love include peonies, ranunculus, Icelandic poppies, lilac, tulips, hyacinth, forsythia, and spirea. These are the perfect classic spring flowers to incorporate into current trends, such as bold color palettes!
With all of this in mind, let’s dive into 10 spring wedding floral trends I love here at The Floral Pop:
Bold Color Palettes
Bold color palettes are becoming more and more popular for spring. I am seeing a lot fewer pastels in the main color palette and are finding that more and more couples are incorporating bold colors into their spring weddings. The trend is creative and eye-catching, which I personally LOVE because it gives you so much room to make it your own. One of my favorite ways to incorporate this look into floral arrangements is in a full, lush compote centerpiece for your reception tables. I have seen a scope of bright spring pinks with peaches, yellows, and oranges incorporated or a bold, wide range of lavender and purple hues with blues incorporated throughout. What is extra fun about these colors is that even when you are working with a bold color palette, you can still embrace the classic spring pastel colors, but instead of them being the main event, you can incorporate them to add depth to the floral designs.
Asymmetrical Style Designs
Asymmetrical style designs have parts that fail to correspond in size, shape, or arrangement. This trend is often seen in bridal bouquets and ceremony arch designs and gives the wedding a more modern look that can be whimsical and fun. It is a great option for those who want to include unique textures into your arrangements and bouquets to create the specific theme and vibes of your overall wedding. I love this trend because it is broad enough where each couple can make it their own, and it also gives me, as the florist, an extra level of creativity. This trend is a great way to elevate your florals by incorporating unique greenery and other textures that make your wedding florals pop in a way that classic designs can fall short.
Incorporating Fruits and Vegetables Into Tablescapes
Let’s talk about a trend that I absolutely adore! Incorporating fruits and veggies into your wedding tablescapes and floral arrangements can take your wedding to the next level. It adds many new elements of texture and bold colors to work with, and makes it completely unique to your wedding. We have seen citrus running down the table in numerous colors, shapes, and sizes or, sometimes, just using a singular item, such as lemons or grapefruit, and letting them be the star of the show. You can get creative with many items, for instance: plums, guava, figs, cherries, melons, peaches, avocados, pears, grapes, and even berries. No matter your color palette, we can most likely find an assortment or a specific fruit that could elevate your tablescape and truly wow your guests.
Using Colorful Accents
Adding colorful accents to your wedding floral designs is an incredible way to be unique and creative. It is a trend that allows you to think outside of the box and utilize colorful items alongside your florals to create new looks. One of my go-to colorful accent pieces is utilizing taper candles in numerous sizes and colors. I love using unique candle holders and colorful tapers to accent the florals and bring your color palette to life. Other options we have incorporated are patterned tablecloths (BBJ La Tavola usually has the best ones!), colored plates or chargers, and even colored cutlery. It’s crucial to remember you can utilize many different items, including the vessel or vase for your florals to accentuate your style and your floral arrangements.
Emphasis on sustainability and eco-conscious floral practices
More and more brides and even vendors are having conversations about how to be more eco-conscious and make sustainable choices when discussing weddings and wedding florals. This is such an important conversation in the landscape of florals and weddings, and that is why here at The Floral Pop, I strive to be as eco-conscious as possible. I am always exploring numerous sustainable options for all of our designs and floral arrangements, and I am currently choosing to lessen our environmental impact by opting for foam-free designs or using foam alternatives, recycling all plastic and cardboard used in transportation and shipping, and using sustainable, reusable elements such as chicken wire.
Statement Wedding Aisle Installations
2025 will be all about the aisle! The emphasis on the wedding aisle continues to increase and get more creative with each season. One way to make your wedding pop is to create an aisle meadow or garden. You would add flowers down the aisle or depending on your venue, even incorporate a current meadow or garden path as your aisle. This adds a one-of-a-kind look to your aisle. Another option to make a grand statement is to not only have handmade meadows of fresh flowers along your aisle, but to also consider having a winding, curvy aisle, instead of a traditional straight one! In addition to these ideas, you can always make even more of a statement by adding florals to the “head” or beginning of your aisle. It doesn’t have to be an arch (unless that’s what you’re dreaming of - we’re always in for a good arch moment), LOL! There are so many options, including elevated columns/pedestals with floral designs or grounded basket florals, or adding to your venue’s beautiful natural features, like any nearby trees that we can add florals to, and so much more. Quite a few brides are also inquiring about unique designs that can be used for the aisle and then moved to the reception for a completely new look with the same statement pieces.
Guest Experience
While you are designing your wedding, something to consider is what will your guests experience when they arrive and attend your wedding? This is a new trend when thinking of your wedding florals; how can you incorporate your wedding florals into a guest experience? A major way this has become popular and will continue to grow is floral accents on many backdrops and stationary pieces in weddings, such as welcome signs (hello window box welcome signs with flowers), champagne walls or carts, or massive statement designs behind the bar or band. The florals add a bold pop of color and catch guests’ attention as they walk in the door. There is also the option of using florals as a seating chart or party favor! Hanging elements from the ceiling or trusses is becoming more and more popular.
I saw a surge in the popularity of hanging baskets and wicker light fixtures to create a distinctive look throughout the last year, and this trend is going to continue to grow. There are thousands of ways to hang flowers and greenery on or within those pieces throughout your wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, or reception that create a romantic boho effect like no other. I love how brides incorporate lights, baskets on the ground, and other rattan pieces with hanging flowers to create impeccable statement designs and unforgettable looks. If you are interested in this look, I would suggest talking with your venue and planner to make sure they feel that this idea can be accomplished and well executed with your key vendors! A newer trend that has caught my attention recently is creating a floral installation of individual flowers suspended from the ceiling above the dance floor for guests to dance the night away. This is an exciting and different WOW moment for your guests.
Monochromatic
In spring 2025, you will see the continued rise of monochromatic wedding florals. This is where the couple chooses one color to be their one color for the entire wedding. I have seen this with white for a while now, but within this trend, I believe you will see more bold monochromatic choices this spring. This trend seems easy, but in all reality, it is quite a task! If done well, it can be very beautiful. This is a trend that I would suggest leaning on your florist and wedding planners to help you create a monochromatic look in a way that is unique and beautiful without risking a clash within your set color palette. Monochromatic weddings are one trend I like if done right, but it can be tricky to accomplish without the right help and support.
Floral Crowns
This is one trend that is something I have seen come in and out of popularity over the past ten years. Flower crowns have slowly been trending again, but in different ways than I have seen them in the past. Instead of pastels and baby’s breath, I am seeing bold designs for flower girls and brides alike. While I love this trend, it does involve more time and labor than brides typically realize, which, depending on the chosen flowers and materials, can equate to a very expensive item within the bride’s wedding party florals.
Minimalist trend
There are many other trends upcoming this spring 2025 season, and one I am seeing is a minimalist look. I love the idea of focusing on a few important pieces and then utilizing minimal flowers for others; however, when it comes to bridesmaids' bouquets, rather than using small bridesmaids bouquets that are similar to the bridal or single stems statement flowers, I would highly recommend going with monotype bouquets based off the bridal bouquet. It’s become one of my favorite options recently, with each bridesmaid receiving a full bouquet made up of one individual flower that is featured in the bride’s bouquet. It creates some individuality and diversity within the bridesmaids, which can be nice, especially if the bride has chosen matching bridesmaids dresses. This is just one of many ways I support and guide the couples I work with to create the absolute best wedding florals to create their dream wedding!
Even as I consider spring trends, the autumn season is almost upon us and I find myself reflecting on some of my favorite fall weddings. I recently shared one of my absolutely favorite autumn weddings in my blog post, A Classic Autumn Wedding at the Wedding Woods. It gives all the warm and cozy autumn vibes everyone is looking for this time of year!
