The holiday season is officially in full swing. With that comes the hustle and bustle of holiday parties, time with family, scouting out the perfect gifts and most importantly, giving back to others. This time of year, I always take time to reflect and remind myself what really matters. As someone who grew up attending church each Sunday with my family, I learned at a young age about tithing and giving back to others. It was always an essential part of our family life to give back in any way we could, whether financially or by giving our time or talents. I still strive to live this out through as many facets as possible. Flowers On A Mission - The Floral Pop’s Passion To Give Back
When I began The Floral Pop, one of my big dreams was to find a way to follow the passion I love, all while supporting non-profits that inspire me. This led me to create Flowers On A Mission, where when you book your wedding or event florals with The Floral Pop, you can select from my curated list of organizations that I personally have a heart for. I will then donate 10% of the profits from your florals back to your chosen charity. That's your flowers on a mission. I have handpicked each of these ministries and want to share them and their passion for loving others well with you.
Flowers On A Mission isn’t just something I say. It’s something I strive to live out!
I intentionally chose mostly nonprofits I have had personal experiences with, either because their ministry has impacted me or because I’ve worked with them in the past. I worked with Child Evangelism Fellowship in a local school at an after-school Good News Club in middle school and high school. I’ve followed Amazima Ministries since their founding and would love to visit their campus one day! I’ve taken two mission trips through The Hanna Project to Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa, which were life-changing. I chose Love + One and YoungLife because those two specific ministries have impacted two of my good friends and have meant a lot in their lives! Within the next month, I’m hoping to introduce another nonprofit or two that I love!
"Pure and undefiled religion before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” - James 1:27
Now that I have shared a little about why I give back through my small business, let's dive into who the organization is and their passions and mission to support those who need it most.
CEF is an incredible organization that was founded in 1937 with a mission to reach “Every Child, Every Nation, Every Day.” According to their website, the ministry has grown into the largest evangelistic outreach to children. Through internal ministries such as the Good News Club and Christian Youth In Action, staff and volunteers help to share the message of Jesus Christ across the country and the globe. Working with them while in middle school and high school, I made incredible connections within the Christian community and had the opportunity to mentor children through their walk with Christ, which was so rewarding.
Amazima Ministries mission is to make disciples of Jesus through authentic relationships, excellent education, and strengthened communities. This outstanding organization was created from the heart of Katie Davis, who, at 18 years old, traveled to Uganda and ended up moving there full-time and began serving the community through education scholarships, vocational training, daily meals and medical care. A dream of mine would be to visit their incredible location in Jinja, Uganda, where they support the children within and around this community. Katie and the entire Amazima team are indeed such an inspiration.
I was personally able to travel with The Hannah Project on two mission trips to Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa and they truly changed my life for the better. The Hannah Project was created in honor of a Brother and sister duo, Carlisle and Marie Hanna, who served the people of India for over 70 years. This organization strives to demonstrate compassion for people suffering the ravages of war, poverty, disease, and disaster. Identifying and addressing human needs enables us to bring help, hope, and healing to many who thought no one cared. As someone who witnessed firsthand their compassion, I know that The Hanna Project lives and exceeds its mission every day.
One of my dear friends truly adores the organization Love+One, and while I was working for her, she helped me dream of what The Floral Pop could become. Love+One is a local Nashville, TN, organization that is dedicated to helping the children of Uganda who are suffering from severe illnesses and are in need of life-saving surgeries and medication. They work directly with government officials, community liaisons, or parents of children who previously received care to connect and support these children. Love+One is dedicated to making genuine relationships with the people of Uganda and working closely with those in the community to create meaningful and long-lasting connections.
Younglife is an organization I have heard about from friends for years and I have personally witnessed my friend's dedication to their outstanding organization. Younglife is a space for adolescents to learn about Jesus Christ and grow in their faith in community with their peers and trusted leaders. The mentorship programs help to connect pre-teens and teens with peers and mentors to develop lasting friendships and community with the Lord. They host incredible events and weekly meetings to enhance adolescents' lives and give them a community of people who genuinely care about them and their walk with Christ.
Anyone who chooses me as your wedding or event florist has the opportunity to pick one of these fantastic organizations and I will donate 10% of the profits from your florals directly to that organization. I am so proud of this initiative as it showcases my heart for service and community and highlights the core values of The Floral Pop.
