Love in Full Color – A Magical Autumn Wedding

Today officially marks the year anniversary of a dear couple, Maggie-Laine and Anthony, with whom I had the opportunity to work with and help create an absolutely stunning autumn wedding. They were an exceptionally genuine couple, and I loved having the chance to create and design their wedding florals. Hi! It’s me, Maegan, with The Floral Pop, a local Nashville florist and wedding vendor, here to share stories of the outstanding couples I have the chance to work with and share inspiration for your upcoming wedding!

As we had our first meeting, Maggie-Laine shared that she wanted a colorful fall palette with a boho twist but was open to fun and new ideas. I ran with her inspiration and began adding my own artistic design to the proposal. I decided to add bunny tails and a little pampas grass, as well as white and ivory florals to create the boho twist vibe that matched perfectly with the olive green bridesmaid dresses. Maggie-Laine and I had many conversations back and forth to make sure everything was fitting her vision perfectly. I loved working with her because she knew what she wanted and was a great communicator, but she was also open to suggestions and ideas. Anthony and his groomsmen's boutonnieres are some of my favorites that I have designed; I absolutely loved the sprigs of ivy in them that were also in their altar arrangements.

Choosing the look and type of bouquet for yourself and your bridesmaids can be a tough decision with all of the options, but knowing the look you want and being clear and concise helps to bring your vision to life. We decided to create four smaller versions of her own asymmetrical bridal bouquet for the bridesmaids and also designed the boutonniere with the same textures and vibes. Maggie-Laine expressed that she did not want a lot of greenery in her bouquet and instead wanted a lot of fun textures and colors. One of my favorite parts of her florals was how we incorporated Copper Beech (preserved tree branches) into each bouquet. This gave the arrangements a strong fall feel while adding fun and unique texture elements.

Her mom and mother-in-law chose to have miniature bouquets, also known as posey bouquets, and can be used instead of corsages. Posey bouquets are becoming more popular and offer a fun pop of color to incorporate parents and grandparents into this special day.

This was the first time I was able to design aisle arrangements that were also used on the head table and guest tables for the reception. We also reused the altar arrangements at the reception to bring tons of color and contrast to the reception space. I don't always recommend reusing ceremony designs, due to venue and weather conditions on the day of, but it worked for us this time! Making sure we had enough time and support to flip the florals from the ceremony was a huge part of the day that I had to take into consideration ahead of time. Knowing this, Maggie-Laine included us in her headcount for catering and provided us with dinner when she absolutely did not have to. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and valued throughout the entire wedding. Not to mention, the venue works with G Catering, which is truly one of the best in Nashville.

One of my favorite memories was creating and putting on their chocolate lab's dog "collar" made of greenery and flowers for her time to shine as she ran down the aisle. She truly took off running when she saw her parents standing at the end of the aisle. It was so funny and sweet to watch her be a part of her parent's big day. She was one of the stars of the show for sure.

On the morning of their wedding day, I had to drop off flowers in Cookeville, TN, for another wedding, then grab a quick bite and head to their venue, Diamond Creek Farms, in Whites Creek, TN. I absolutely love this venue, especially because it is a blank canvas that you can create into your own vision. It is all black and white, and you can create an autumn boho vibe, a whimsical fairy garden, or a classic all black and white theme, depending on your overall wedding desires. It is also a larger venue and can host over 300 people, which is hard to find right outside of Nashville, TN. They also have an epic giant black frame where people can take unique and one-of-a-kind photos.

The night was truly such a breathtaking wedding and was filled with so much love and support from all of their friends and family. One of my favorite parts of being a wedding florist is when everything comes together and creates the vision a couple has been dreaming of for years. All of the planning, hard work, and little details come together to create something they will never forget, and I am so honored to be a small part.

Thank you to Maggie-Laine and Anthony for letting me be a part of their special day, and happy one-year anniversary! Lastly, I cannot leave out her epic look at her reception; I mean, what a gorgeous and fun wardrobe change for the reception.
