From 2024 to 2025: Wedding Trends That Are Here to Stay
Let’s talk trends. First things first, while I don’t believe everyone should jump on new trends strictly because others are incorporating them into their wedding plans, I am a firm believer in finding inspiration from trends and making them your own. A trend should highlight your personality and overall wedding vibe. So, can trends become timeless? YES! I personally believe that when a trend can be carried over from year to year, it can become a staple in the wedding industry. Hi! Ceremony Friday, Party Saturday
The idea of having the ceremony one day and the party on another is not a new idea; however, we saw it popping up in new and creative ways throughout 2024. It is a way to significantly change from the “norm” while creating a unique and separate atmosphere for the ceremony and reception. This is an excellent idea for couples wanting to have a smaller ceremony in one location and a larger reception in another. This could be at the courthouse, one of the beautiful National Parks around the country, an intimate location with just the bride and groom, or even a quaint chapel with a few friends and family. These are a few examples of smaller ceremonies; however, I have also seen couples wanting to create an entire wedding weekend with events each night, and this is a great way to incorporate this trend into your wedding. This trend is even common with destination weddings or weddings where many guests travel to the wedding, and the couple wants to make their travel time well worth it. There are many ways to make this trend work for you and your wedding ideas.
More Outfit Changes
Did you know that more and more brides are changing twice or even thrice during their weddings? But I’m not talking about spending thousands of dollars on multiple wedding dresses (unless that is your dream, which I say, “go for it girl”). Instead, many brides are experimenting with fun reception looks and relaxed after-party outfits. This trend is an exciting way to show your style throughout your wedding weekend, apart from just your wedding dress. I have seen brides design versatile outfits, including removing a Cinderella-style skirt from their dresses or other removable items from their ceremony dresses, personalized two-piece sets for the end of the reception, and even unique lounge sets for after-parties.
Pastel Wedding Dresses
Okay, hear me out. While this trend has been around for a few years, it has continued to change and grow into a creative way to incorporate subtle color into your wedding and make your dress POP! From colors like pistachio to more subdued soft pinks, pastel wedding dresses have continued to set brides apart. If you know me, you know I love creative ways to make your wedding your own, and this is such a unique way to insert your wedding vibe into each and every item of your wedding. This is an excellent option for spring and summer weddings, elopements, and intimate celebrations because of the flexibility and fun the colors add to the wedding ceremony and overall theme. It also creates unique looks you could do with the wedding party, especially the bridesmaids. I have seen where the bride chose a satin pastel pink dress, and the bridesmaids were in satin champagne dresses to create an elegant theme. At the same time, I have seen a bride choose a fun pastel yellow tone with colorful pastel bridesmaid dresses for a bouquet of colors throughout the wedding party. This trend allows you to incorporate spectacular looks throughout your ceremony and reception.
Bows
2024 was the YEAR of the bows, but that is not the last we will see of them. Bows have always had a space in the wedding industry; while their popularity has ebbed and flowed over the years, they are here to stay. While we have seen bows everywhere over the past year, 2025 will be all about subtle bows. This means small or subdued bows throughout floral designs embedded in wedding dresses, table decor, and even ceremony pieces. A great way to utilize bows in your wedding is to match them to the exact color of your wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, or table decor. This helps them blend into the fabric while adding depth and character. I also LOVE velvet bows for weddings throughout the fall and winter seasons.
Lilac and Periwinkle Color Palette
Monochromatic wedding themes have continued in popularity for years; however, in 2025, we will see more emphasis on the lilac and periwinkle color palettes. These palettes bring a soft and feminine atmosphere while also remaining subtle and creating the most incredible vibes for spring and summer weddings. I love seeing brides incorporate these colors throughout the different elements of their wedding in distinctive and imaginative ways. Another fun aspect of these palettes is the way you can create depth and dimension into your florals, even though most of the florals are similar colors.
Bold Colors and Maximalist Vibes
Don’t be afraid to go BOLD in 2025! As a bride, your wedding should be your own, and for too many years, brides were nervous about making their wedding too bold or over-the-top, but in 2025, I believe brides can genuinely take their vibes to the next level, and florals are the way to do just that. Choosing a bold color palette and incorporating maximalist decor throughout your ceremony and reception is an entertaining way to wow your guests and show off your personality as a couple. I have seen couples take their table decor to the next level when they utilize fruit throughout the centerpieces and floral arrangements. Citrus is one of the most popular, but the ever-famous pears have a place, especially in moody fall and winter weddings. Pomegranates are one of the most vibrant and beautiful fruits to incorporate bold colors. I love it when couples aren’t afraid to be themselves, and I, as your go-to florist, give you full permission to let loose and go big!
High-Impact Floral Installations
As we talk about bold colors and maximalist vibes, we also have to discuss high-impact floral installations. We are talking about floral arrangements hanging from the ceiling in the shape of a life-size picture frame for photos, aisle gardens, entire flower walls, and so much more. These features are incredible ways to provide an exceptional guest experience and take your wedding decor to the next level. They are interesting ways to create drama and depth in your decor that other elements cannot achieve. We will see more and more examples of these throughout 2025 weddings. More and more of the couples I speak to are asking about these options, while venues and florists alike are creating new and exciting ideas for couples to create a memorable experience at their wedding.
Wispy Florals and Artistic Floral Arrangements
If you have been following me for a while, you know how much I am obsessed with wispy and artistic florals. The rise of this trend is only continuing to grow as it allows florists and brides to create works of art that cannot be recreated. Wispy and artistic florals, from bouquets to arrangements, are the future of florals as brides want more and more customization. They provide room for creativity that traditional bouquets and arrangements do not. Each bouquet from the bride to bridesmaid is unique while still flowing together as one theme. These types of florals also offer another level of depth through the arrangements for the ceremony and reception. They create a fun, even whimsical feeling and breathe life into dark corners, sitting areas, DJ booths, and more. These are some of my favorite bouquets to create because I can take the bride’s inspiration and create a work of art to then present to the bride (one of my favorite parts of the job).
Whether you are a bold and maximalist type or a more subdued bow-loving bride, any of these trends can be molded to create your dream wedding aesthetic. I firmly believe that trends can be good and bad and depend on how you use them. Couples should always find inspiration and build a specific wedding experience and theme. It should incorporate your style, personality, and overall vibe while pulling inspiration from your venue. This is why working with a florist you trust is so important.
